abby

Sweet Abby is a very special girl with special needs. As you can see, she's beautiful. What you can't see is how intelligent, cuddly and loving she is!

Abby is a happy, friendly young gal (4 years) with a sweet disposition and outgoing personality (her "sad" photo doesn't do her justice but is a good representation of her looks). Due to a congenital vision problem she has been gradually losing her sight, yet she can still see enough to get along very well everywhere, both indoors and out. She climbs stairs easily and can figure out the layout of a house or yard in minutes.

She loves to go for walks and is mastering her basic commands. She heels with confidence, and also loves to free-roam on an extension leash. She is adventurous, yet is also very calm and affectionate with people. Abby loves to get hugs, and gives kisses freely. She is crate trained and housebroken and travels well in a car. But her favorite place will be in your lap or lying by your side.

She would be happiest with someone who is home a good part of the day as she loves being near her human(s). But she's also happy to just chill out for hours at a time by herself with a snooze or a stuffed Kong toy. While she would prefer to be the only dog, she could be matched with a mature, mellow male, or possibly other animals with some additional socializing.

Abby is currently doing well in foster care in Alameda, CA, but will need a new home by the end of April due to her foster mom's involuntary housing change.
