albie

Here’s the basics about this beautiful boy: He weighs 80 pounds, is about a year old, has been neutered, microchipped and is up-to-date on his shots. He appears to be some sort of German Shepherd mix and is completely white with slightly darker caramel colored spots behind his ears and along his back.
Albie was very insecure when we first got him from the San Francisco shelter, but he has started to come out of his shell and his playful personality is beginning to shine through. Playing with his ‘friends’ all day long and getting lots of love and attention from his fosters have certainly helped. He is ok on walks, but reacts in a scared way to strangers that we encounter along the way. He seems to want to hide between our dogs or behind our legs when he sees somebody approaching. He reacts this way mostly with strange men, so we suspect that he has some abuse in his past.
He went to his first Rocket Dog adoption day and although he was very scared to begin with, actually did great, especially with the children that approached him. He also gets along really well with our 2 dogs, but does bark at the neighborhood cat that strolls along our fence every now and then.
We think he will do best as an only dog to allow him to fully bond with and trust humans again. Like most shelter dogs, he will also need continued obedience training, but he appears to be a quick learner, so it should be a breeze for him to learn more complicated commands than ‘sit’.
