oso

Oso is a very sweet old man. He’s a guesstimated 12-year-old Akita/German Shepherd mix (possibly some Chow). He came to RDR from the San Francisco Animal Care and Control when he ran out of time and was going to be put down. His history is unknown but he was brought in as a stray originally. He might have had a family before. He seems a bit sad these days and could use a lot of love.

Oso can be introverted. He’s not your typical outgoing dog that will come right up and lick your face. He likes to be independent and is a little shy around strangers. But once he gets to know you, it’s a different story. He’s really warming up to his foster mom and loves to follow her around. He loves having his head rubbed and will come up and demand it now. Since he’s just been neutered, he can still come on pretty strong to other dogs, but it’s all show. In group walks, he enjoys himself, and is happy to just follow his person around. He can tolerate a lot. Puppies love to go up to him and lick his face. He’s not shown any aggression at all.

He seems to know his way around the house and is not destructive in anyway. However, he also doesn’t seem to know any commands yet. His foster mom is working with him on this, and thinks he can learn quickly. He’s a very smart dog. Because of his age, his back legs aren’t what they used to be. He’d do best in a place with minimal or no stairs. He’s very confused by all the changing of homes. He needs that special person who can give him the best home for his final years. If you think you’re that special person, please come to our mobile adoptions or e-mail Michelle at Michelle@barksinparks.com for more information.
